CASE STUDY
Institution: Southern Alberta Institute of Technology
Project: Supporting the Great SAIT Learning Experience
As an institution known for its student-centric approach and positive learning environment, SAIT’s Great SAIT Learning Experience (GSLE) was designed to further improve student experience across the campus. MNP worked with SAIT to document the student experience through the development of process maps that reflects the typical student experience across the institution and identify the touch points and activities that defined their experience.
In addition to process maps that outlined the current state of student experience from initial recruitment and enrolment through to graduation, MNP was able to provide process improvement recommendations to further improve the student learning experience.
This engagement ended with a campus-wide event where findings were presented by MNP to staff and faculty from across SAIT. After the presentation, attendees were asked to brainstorm ideas to implement the recommendations.
Results: By reflecting the overall experience of the student, the process maps offered a valuable perspective of student experience across departments and served as a foundation to facilitate greater collaboration between departments, including engaging staff and faculty in the implementation of process improvements. By giving SAIT’s educators and staff the knowledge to continue to enhance the student learning experience, this engagement will allow SAIT to continue to achieve their strategic objectives.
