MNP to Acquire Subset of Deloitte Business to Expand Footprint in Québec

FEBRUARY 12, 2021; MONTRÉAL, QC – MNP, one of Canada’s largest national accounting, tax and business consulting firms, announced today that it will acquire a subset of Deloitte’s Canadian business. Certain Deloitte partners and team members in Québec outside Montreal will join MNP, on or about March 1, 2021.

Approximately 40 Deloitte partners, 500 team members and 20 offices will join MNP’s practice in Québec. The transition in the province is part of a broader national agreement between Deloitte and MNP that will also see approximately a further 20 Deloitte partners and nearly 400 team members join MNP’s practice in BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. MNP will also add new locations in Ontario, in Windsor and Hawkesbury.

“MNP has had a presence in Québec since 2011 and has been steadily growing its footprint in the province over the past decade in the tax, audit and consulting services space as well as consumer insolvency services,” said Jeremy Cole, Executive Vice President, GTA and Québec. “MNP’s partners and team members in Québec are keenly aware of the unique cultural and business practices that our clients expect from a service provider in the province. We’re committed to this focus and are excited to welcome our new partners and team members to the firm, who will continue to bring their passion for client service to the region.

“This is a very strategic addition for MNP and reflects our commitment and focus to helping clients in the private, not-for-profit and public sectors in Quebec,” said Jeremy Cole, Executive Vice President, GTA and Québec. “While we have built a strong and growing presence in Montreal, Laval and along the South Shore, this move substantially increases our footprint right across the province. That’s something that is important to us as we are passionate about being physically present in the communities where our clients live and work. With our specialized services, expertise and experience, we truly believe this is a ‘win-win-win’ for the clients, partners and people who will be joining MNP.”

As a part of the transition, both firms are aligned in their commitment to maintaining exemplary client service and business continuity throughout the transition. All impacted clients and staff have been notified. Financial details of the transaction will not be disclosed. The deal is subject to approval by The Canadian Competition Bureau.

While changes to Deloitte are more prominent in the Québec region, the firm remains committed to serving organizations in Québec with distinction. Québec will continue to play a critical role in the firm’s national footprint and the firm will have a continued, significant and growing presence in the province.

“MNP shares our commitment to providing quality service and ensuring a careful and respectful transition, therefore we are confident that our people and clients will thrive in this new home,” said Geneviève Provost, Managing Partner, Province of Québec and National Capital Region, at Deloitte. “We remain committed to serving organizations in Québec with dedication and investing to strengthen our presence in the province. We look forward to strengthening both new and existing relationships with Québec-based organizations, particularly those who can most benefit from Deloitte’s breadth of services, scale, and global footprint.”
